Uncharted 3 must feel like an open world![/size]

The game world of Uncharted 3, must feel more open in game then the previous Uncharted games, says Justin Richmond, Game Director at game developer Naughty Dog. This is what he said:

It is not sure how many player are going to be wandering around in the game yet, but it will definitely feel more open then other games.

There is one thing, that he just cannot deny, and that is that it will never be such an open world as Grand Theft Auto.

We are not going to make a real open-game world. And we are never going to make that - Just because we don't want to make it.

It has to feel like you are lost in the desert, but they are not going to let you drive miles and miles away.

In Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Nathan Drake is in the desert searching for "Atlantis of the Sand". The game is supposed to be released in November to the Playstation 3 Exclusively.

I don't get his statement, why does game creators and people always think that open world is something desirable. I think those kinds of games have shown us lately that sandbox gaming just isn't ideal. It's like this, right: You have an awesome fruit basket, you look at it in awe and you think, this is gonna be everything I dreamed of. You get a few hints of what kinds of fruits are gonna fill this basket. But when you actually get close enough to own the basket you just aren't impressed anymore because you are left with a big basket with nothing but a normal granny smith apple inside.

What I'm trying to say is that sandbox games give a nice package with nothing inside, it's too big to fill. Elder Scrolls and Fallout are the only games that make this sandbox feel alive.
