Post: Why Sony WON'T Brick Your Consoles

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); They won't brick your consoles, I can say this with complete, 100% certainty.

You legally purchased that console. You own it in the eyes of the law; it is your property. You have not broken any laws surrounding it. Installing Custom Firmware is not illegal, signing it is. Installing homebrew is not illegal, signing it is.

If they cause any damage to your property that prevents it's use, that is Criminal Damage, because you OWN that, and Criminal Damage is illegal as part of Anti-Vandalism Laws.

Now, lets say, based on hard evidence, that 20% of PSN users have the CFW, this is not an outrageous figure, considering how much traffic NGU and other hacking sites have received recently.

So, lets say that half of PS3 owners DON'T play online, that leaves 10% of all PS3 owners with this CFW.

Then, lets say Sony DID disable ALL those consoles. They would lose 10% of their consumers, not only that, but they'd lose HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS in law suits if they did that, and they can be charged criminally for each and every console they maliciously disable.

They would most DEFINITELY go bankrupt, with all the law suits, loss of customers and bad publicity.

I know for a FACT that I can take legal action against them if they disable my console, and if they do I WILL take them to the cleaners. I suggest you all do the same.

They're more than welcome to mac address ban you though, banning you from ever playing online on any account on that console.

You also can't change your mac address and spoofing doesn't work.

Yes, they are more than welcome to do that.

And that doesn't ban the console, it just bans you from ever using it from that network, so if you REALLY wanna get back online you can take it to a mate's house and play...

No.. the MAC address is built into your PS3.

It's why people that have never been online also have one.

Oh, I thought the MAC address belonged to the network.

Yeah, you can't spoof that, and if you did, I'm fairly sure it's HIGHLY illegal if it's not for legitimate purposes.
