lol me and my friends make jokes such as - "so it's going to be called call of duty modern warfare 2? jeez thats long" "no not that it's call of duty modern warfare 2 soap cleans up or soaps revenge they aren't sure" =p (btw this is not real silly billys) we just make it up for laugh =)

It said that the reason they are dropping the Call of Duty title is because they don't want something like this to end of happening: "Call of Duty 17: Modern Warfare 6: Moderner Warfare 2: Lasers are Bad: Aerosmith." SO they decided to give MW2 a life of their own. It seems different not having a Call of Duty title, but I think it will be interesting.

yea but just having modern warfare 1-99 or so kinda doesn't imply that it's cod

They changed it back. It's now going to to be called 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2'.
