Reason why PSN not going to have any of this is simple......very simple
Sony japan controls PSN and what direction it should take. Tbh they don't have a clue what they wanted the PS3 to be, that clear from it release.
Same goes for PSN sadly so they turned it into a content network like steam.

This means the focus on is not on adding things for gamers because they believe it not needed.
I guess that due to the cost factors of doing a VOIP service and PSN not having the capacity to deal with it. Meaning we won't see it because PSN was never designed to cope with it and the cost too high.

Dirty truth is that no patent could stop a company from doing something there always a way around it. And also MS don't own all of the methods to do this.

Btw this is a classic example of why sony within it current management structure fails
