I just want to see an in depth explaination of what bricking does.

My PS3 hasn't bricked, thought once it did turn on and had yellow light but that went away after unplugging it and turning it back on.

bricking is where a file from either the jailbreak or another program installed on your ps3 infects the BOOT file so that the ps3 can not boot think of it like somebody putting a virus in your computer that destroys your HDD

the boot is messed up so the ps3 doesnt know hot to boot, therefor the brick

So putting the HDD into a laptop and adding in a fresh BOOtT wouldn't work?

Another question; does a PS3 store information anywhere but the harddrive?

forumjunkie im not sure im not the most experienced with unbricking ps3s coz it hasnt happened to me yet give it a search on google and see if you can and if you can there should be a tut somewhere

and as far as i know all the ps3's information is stored on the harddrive (except trophies which are exported online as well as backed up on the HDD

Like I say my console isn't bricked, but all my friends are absolute idiots and started jailbreaking their PS3s.
I see knowing how to unbrick as a good money making skill to have and I am determined to find a fix that I can use to fix the inevitably bricked PS3s of my friends.
