Is your PS3 jailbreak'd? if so that might be the problem

What you could do is insert the gta4 disk delete the patch, log out of psn, install the patch, login and update.

No my PS3 is not jailbroken, ok so i insert the GTA 4 disk, i dont have to delete the patch since GTA 4 is not installed to my PS3, i log off, install the patch and thats it?

The same thing happens to me. Everytime I load GTA 4, it freezes after like a minute or so of playing. I have TBOGT (The Ballad of Gay Tony) installed, and it freezes on that too.

Though, I stopped caring for it. I'll check if I can fix it, though I think the best thing to do is to delete the Game Save Data, and attempt once again.
