As most of you have heard Sony are planing to disable all hacked consoles...
Quote:
"Starting 2/1/11 all users of Black Ops who have been implicated with any sort of hacking will be unable to access their 'Playstation 3' consoles and will receive an error message indicating their ban. E-mails will be sent out accordingly to the respective users."
So all there saying is if you hacked your PS3 on the 2/1/11 you will receive a error message when you turn on your PS3, that means basically that they bricked your PS3... It will mean that you wont be able to play any game online or offline, watch any movies, really do anything at all with your PS3. Everything would be disabled.
Now my question is: Is this even ****ING legal because its our console we paid $200 - $500 for it and now we cant even switch it on...
If its not then somebody get on the phone to there lawyer...
Legally we own the system not the software, now if we actually bought software disks with our PS3's it'd be a different story.
""Or Sony could brick PS3 by issuing updates that patch LV1 and LV2, if your using an original firmware then these patches would just update security. If your using CFW then any patching to the code in LV1 and LV2 could result in a bricked PS3, this wouldn't be done on purpose but it would happen simply because Sony would patched a region of code that was unexpectedly tampered with.
This would mean Sony are not at fault, as people are not using official firmware which is being upgraded in an official way, in other words if it bricks then its the owners fault as you cant expect sony to test its upgrades are compatible with unauthorized firmwares.""
