The value-for-money appeal of multi-game packages is seemingly on the up after third-party publisher Ubisoft this week revealed high-profile trilogy offerings centred on two of its biggest franchises.
Following on from the success garnered by Sony’s Sly Cooper and God of War multi-packs, French videogame giant Ubisoft has confirmed it will be releasing HD collections covering both Prince of Persia and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell.
Taking a closer look at what’s on offer, the Splinter Cell Classic Trilogy HD will arrive exclusively on the PlayStation 3 and will include the original Splinter Cell game, along with sequels Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.
Prospective buyers armed with a PlayStation 3 can also look forward to Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia Classic Trilogy, which will include HD versions of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones.
Beyond offering up a little retro love for Sony’s faithful fanbase—via many titles previously released for Microsoft’s Xbox—all of the titles spread across Ubisoft’s trilogies come with 3D support.
Both disc-based trilogies will hit U.S. retail shelves on March 22 for $39.99 USD each. They will also be available as complete digital downloads through Sony’s PlayStation Network (PSN).
Not bad at all, and certainly tempting… but we here at The Tech Herald are looking forward to Team Ico’s long-awaited collection, which carries HD versions of legendary PlayStation 2 titles Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.
