The ban from Sony is a complete online disable, no more psn I believe, although other sources have stated it's a full disable, you can't do anything, just error messages, but I guess that's unlikely.
My conversation with Sony man:

Me: hello, I'm just wondering, I have seen several articles on the Internet about Sony planning on mass banning ps3's soon. Is this true??

Sony: well a recent breach in the ps3's security allowing custom made firmware had been spreading around, and yes this is a miss use and a breach in the code of conduct, and yes people are going to be banned since it's a serious matter.

Me: I have also heard black ops has had something to do with the bans, anyone who has been banned on black ops are getting banned as well supposedly??

Sony: well the ban is mainly for anyone who has messed with their firmware, but also, black ops us playing a part, A console ban from black ops is also a serious matter, and hacking with custom firmware is responsible I believe.

Me: I was playing online, I joined a normal public match and it was a strange modded lobby, and I left and my stats were changed and my rank, next thing I know I get a console bam for something I didn't do.

Sony: well I understand that hackers have been doing stuff to black ops and many bans have been given out.

Me: since I'm console banned does that mean Im going to get completely banned by Sony??

Sony: well I shouldn't think so, since it's ideally the firmware altering which the ban is designed for, but since black ops is also a part being considered, I can't promise you won't be banned completely, sorry for not being able to provide more information.

Me: Suck my Dick, you ban us your gonna get ****ed in the ass bitch. (Lol jokes.... I wish I said that )

Basically he said I am at risk off being completely banned off ps3, just for a black ops ban, he himself didn't know much more.

What do you guys think??

I know him on another forum I administer. He doesn't make things up.

I personally believe him, because I called and they said it was classified info i was like wtf.

Banning people from PSN would be a silly move in my opinion.

They should, if possible, just prevent anyone not running OFW from using PSN, which isn't the same as a ban. If they ban, then there's nothing left for people to lose; they can stay offline and download all the games they want. Some will no doubt feel disgruntled and buy a 360, too. If however, they do not ban, but do manage to prevent users with CFW from using PSN they will lure users back to their ways, being 'legit' and paying for content. That's how I see it. I know if I get banned, I'll keep my PS3, continue to download shit for free and use my 360 more for online gaming.

Ok i just got off the phone with sony. of course i made up a lie saying that I was in a modded zombies match without knowing it was a modded zombies match until round 3. and i told him I was disconnected and was permanently banned. he said there was nothing they can do about that and I said i know theres nothing you can do about it, im just wondering would i get banned from getting banned from black ops .heres where the interesting part comes in

Sony Representative: Well as long if you didn't modify your system and broke the the license agreement then your system should be fine. but if you did modify your system then there's a chance your console would be disabled and nonoperational.

Me: soo basically as long if I didn't moddify my ps3 and if im on3.56 then I should be fine.

Sony: yes if your on 3.56 then your system will be fine

Me: well thank you for your information bye.

Soo as long if your on 3.56 without updating with CFW you should be fine.

I'm pretty confident I won't get banned from PSN.

I had 3.55CFW, went back to 3.55OFW, restored my PS3 to factory settings... waited about 14 hours... then I updated to 3.56OFW.

I was only on CFW for a few days, never hacked or anything like that, I'm not banned from B.O. I played a game from my HDD but used WipeMe etc frequently.

So yeah, if I do then so be it; take the chance, pay the price.

If they ban me, here is what im going to do.

- Unplug my banned Ps3.
- Go to Sony HQ Norway.
- Stand infront of their securtity gate.
- Throw the Ps3 at the gate.
- Show my finger.
- Walk away.
