Post: SCEA vs. Geohot: Judge Denies Sony's Request for Expedited Discovery

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hon. Susan Illston has denied Sony's request for expedited discovery. A hearing on SCEA’s Motion is now scheduled on March 11, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. As a result, Sony cannot send out any of the subpoenas.

On Thursday, there will be a hearing on the Temporary Restraining Order (“TRO”) which was previously granted without a hearing.

If a hearing is not held by February 10, 2011, Mr. Hotz will be forced to surrender his storage devices to Plaintiff SCEA, and will continue to be restrained, without a hearing or consideration of the substance of the TRO Order. A hearing is also needed so that Mr. Hotz may limit the breadth and vagueness of the TRO.

At the moment he isn't permitted to speak regarding the hacking of the PS3 or how he did it. The TRO is supposedly forcing him to give up all his computers, PS3 consoles, etc that he used to help hack the PS3.

Sony is just a joke now.

Poor GeoHot, looks like he has a lot of disk wiping ahead of him. Would be funny if they literally couldn't find any physical evidence Happy.

You DO know Kevin Butler isn't a real person right? It's an actor playing him.

So they could sue him for bits of the hacking that he didn't do? Since he is not permitted to speal?

He is just not allowed to discuss any aspects of the hacks. Since he is the one who released it originally Sony is suing him. However, they are taking action against team FailOverFlow as well, but are having difficulty finding the other hackers. So they are trying to force sites such as psx-scene, youtube, twitter, etc to release their IP addresses to catch them so that they can be sued as well. It's a long dramatic story. In the end, Sony won't win this one. I've done the research, it never ends well for Sony.
