When Sony Computer Entertainment Europe boss David Reeves announced his retirement today, he made a few jokes in his public statement about what apparently is a looming future in philanthropy: "I am going to spend my time now trying to repay society for all I have taken from it," he said. "If your children are having physics lessons at the local school or wondering why their ski instructor is very elderly, your car mechanic has a bad back, or the social worker keeps bringing you PSP games, then it could just be me!"
But according to at least one rumor that's already circulating, he may not be done with the games industry yet. VG247 reports (via Kotaku) that, according to an anonymous source, Reeves will soon be taking a "senior position" at Realtime Worlds, developer of Crackdown and the forthcoming APB.
After being reached for comment, SCEE evidently gave a canned "we don't comment on rumor and speculation" response, so it's too early to say if there's any truth to the report. But if there is (and again, there very well may not be), it would be oddly similar to Phil Harrison's departure from Sony last year, stepping down from his role as head of Sony Worldwide Studios to join Atari.
