And if they were going to do what thay stated in that article.. its been 2 years since they said that... so dont you think there would have been an update which enables all PS3's to be backwards compatible?

That'd be cool if they did, there are some old games i still have that i'd love to play . Like gta san andreas would be fun to play again .

Like I said before.....that article that you are linking to is almost 2 years old (June 30, 2009). Why would you think that they would make backwards compatibility now?

Well if you take a look in the dev_flash it has a ps1, ps2, and psp (mini) emulators so I think that may have somthing to do with it...

I wonder what Sony would do if someone created/ported a PS2 Emulator?

I don't think Sony could be mad about it, I mean... it's their system being emulated on their system. :carling:

The original ps3 had a chip to enable the play of ps2 games. Sony took it out because the manufactoring costs were too high. Same applies for the SD-card slots and 4USB ports. Back then, the production of the ps3 was higher than they sold it for. (Sony lost around 100$ per ps3 instead of getting money.)
