Playstation 3

What I mean is it has no area to release the heat. If your PS3 is on the carpet it will get to hot. Very hot. That's what causes the death of the console. To avoid overheating you must put your system somewhere where the system will not overheat. For example place the system somewhere elevated where it will not get too hot like in a cabinet or table that holds up your TV.

-Burnouts

Not the game or the drift move I mean the overheating. Inside the system is are boards that split the graphics to give you the looks of the game and what you see on your television screen. When you play four hours straight the board is exhausted. What you need to do is play one hour take a break then continue. By break I mean stop playing, shut down and unplug power supply. Wait 15 minutes not 15 seconds.

-Blu-ray Failure

Blu-ray failure is when the disc drive can't continue. This occurs when the disk drive is damaged. This can happen while playing to long or playing scratched disk. Listen to your Blu-ray drive. If you hear a constant reverse sound check your disk. If small scratches appear then don't worry but if large scratches appear down the length then that's a problem.

-Unsafe power down

Never shut down the PS3 by unplugging it. Instead completely quit out of the game then shut down off the XMB menu. This will allow the PS3 to fully process everything. Also if your on homebrew be careful as these also cause crashes.

Controllers

-Rage

I as a gamer can understand how all these noob AK74u fags can make me want to shiv a mother****er but just take a breather. These controllers are $50 each. Do you want to go out and buy a new one only to break that one later?

-Abusive relationship

While playing a game and dying the first instinct is to move the controller. This is also unsafe as I myself have accidentally thrown my controller in the air so be smart.

-Analog stick Grips

These grips are there to help you play better so don't lose them. If you have small children around they will immediately go for that part and rip it off.

-Enviroment
Well while playing at a friends house I noticed something. The furniture that held up his TV and PS3 was wood while mine is glass. I went in to unplug my PS3 to go back home and I noticed it was extremely hot after about an hour long session. Yet on my glass one my PS3 doesn't get hot for a long time.
I hope I helped as these tips will help save your system. Until then I will continue repairing PS3's for ridiculously high prices. :Carling:

I've owned 4 Playstation 3s and none of them just up and died on me. My third one did get struck by lighting though. Funny thing is that it still turned on, played games and everything, just couldn't use the internet on it.

Wow that is a lot of time consuming, and I feel terrible for you man. I've had the same PS3 since 2007 and it's had no problem at all. One of things I've noticed was if you leave your system in a closed up and crowded area it could lead too system malfunction over a short period of time which is problematic. Also I know people who leave theire system on (Idle) with the disc still inside which over a period of time can screw up your PS3. It's one of the many reasons I tell people that if you leave your PS3 on, that you have no disc inside.

Just some of the tips I'd like too add to this post to tell everyone, most people know about this but just letting others know about how to prevent such tragic events lol.

Thanks for reading!

No. The system isn't like a person who just needs eight hours of sleep. You play one hour, stop for 15-20 mins and the you continue.
