Last week we reported on the success of Sony's Hanuman: Boy Warrior in India, which is fueling plans for an expansion in regional development. At least one group, however, is not very pleased about the game starring the Hindu deity lord.
In a statement issued by the Universal Society of Hinduism, president Rajan Zed called the game a "denigration." The group wants Sony to withdraw the game from shelves.
"Lord Hanuman was not meant to be reduced to just a 'character' in a videogame to solidify company/products base in the growing economy of India," Zed argues.
As Videogaming247 points out though, this is not the first time Zed has protested entertainment. According to GamingIndians.com, Zed has previously protested "Rihanna's misspelled Sanskrit tattoo, Mike Myers flick Love Guru, and supermodel Heidi Klum's Goddess Kali Halloween costume."
Not only that, but Zed is based in America, oeople in India don't seem quite so perturbed. Lest Sony rest easy though, GamingIndians also takes a shot at the game itself, saying that the only reason it should be banned is that its "just so bad." Ouch, don't really have a comeback for that one
