(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The reason im making this post is because many people have posted these long, very detailed, threads about geohots court case. im here to make a very brief summary of that.

OK, to start. Geohot is suing sony for taking away the OtherOS feature of the playstation. He argues that if you dont update to 3.21 to keep OtherOS, the promised feature of your PS3, you will lose access to items you might have paid for such as netflix, qriocity, and other PSN demanding features. He claims that it is against the law to force them to update their PS3's to 3.21 or they lose those core features. also, many games and blu ray disks only work on higher firmwares. Sony argues that these features are only promised through the length of your warranty.

Sony is suing geohot,in retard terms, for illegally hacking the ps3. Sony is scared of piracy, which geohot plainly pointed out he tried to STOP in his CFW. Geohot argues that if you own that console, you can do what you want to it.geohot is not alone however, failoverflow is also being sued for illegal distribution of the security keys

Now i know i left out some things so feel free to fill me in in the replies section.
Seriously, instead of bitching about my mistakes, tell m what I left out.
Thanks,
Chad

So, is this a possible case where it sucks to have free online access....because with XBL since you pay for it you have to agree to their terms?

What I don't understand is, why is Sony b**ching about this?
I know they know if they had the jailbreak feature already installed on there systems when people buy it, they'd make a ton of more money! All they would need to do is find a way to stop pirates and this could work.... just my opinion....

Sry Chad, idk how old you are or why that matters, but you didn't interpret it correctly or have only sampled minor grounds on Geohot's part. In his defense he claims that they won't stop the piracy by suing him or getting a remedy. However legally it was wrong to break into their security system. DMCA protects Sony on that one. And if you ever studied law, just learning the contracts is enough to understand Geohot's wrong doing.
