i was wondering if it is possible to record my gameplay while playing through the monitor and not have to play through my computer

can anyone link me to an example of the recording device i would need.

doesnt answer my question trust me i have search around but there is no answer for when im playing through a monitor with no composite outputs.

Would a Hauppauge HD PVR do the Job? might be worth having a look into.
