It is evident that this Generation is coming to an end and no doubt that developers now have ideas that are larger than life and would most likely require a new console to realize all that. Prior to the release of the PS3, Sony claimed it was going to redefine the way we see gaming devices. The PS3 is well over 4 years and what has it achieved?

Critically, When the Ps3 launched, it was just an expensive black box, nothing really special to sway gamers to her camp, because there was clearly little or no difference between it and the Xbox360. Who would get a big black machine for a luxurious price during an economic crises and when the so-called Black Machine had multiplatform games that were under par with the xbox360 counterpart? Owing to these series of events, Sony had to constantly advocate to gamers on why the PS3 is the best option, various failed campaign strategies but thanks to Kelvin Butler. The “it only does everything” campaign was able to tell gamers what the PS3 could do while being simplistic at best.

A lot of things have changed since the PS3 first launched, The PlayStation Network can now stand shoulder to shoulder with the Xbox Live. Graphically it has no rival, the Uncharted franchise can testify to that. The Ps3 has constantly pushed the gaming industry to previously unseen heights, Heavy Rain could not have been Possible elsewhere other than the PS3. The architectural complexity of the machine created the enabling environments for the success of the game, so claimed the developers. How about 3D? Sony is clearly the frontrunner in the campaign for the successful commercialization of 3D, and the PS3 has it right in the box, though via an infinite-decimal firmware update. The PS3 is now more affordable and takes lesser power, Motion control providing lag-free motion gaming is only possible on the PS3 as promised by Sony. Internet browser? Sure! Even to the thinnest feature, Sony has made available. Home is entirely another story, simply innovative and evolving. The PS3 is simply a beast, combining all the features every gamer would want in just one box, something fans of other gaming devices would like manufacturers of their preferred game console to emulate.

Human wants are insatiable, and even as much as the features available on the PS3, many gamers would still claim that Sony hasn’t done a lot, Sony needs to go back to the drawing board and get their acts together. Sure, that’s the freaking characteristic of every sane human, and I am not irritated, because in my mind, Sony has done a lot and deserve all the praises in the world. Now here’s the real question and we need to be all sincere to ourselves. Do you still think that Sony hasn’t yet delivered on their PS3 promises? What are your thoughts? Let’s share it. Who knows, that unavailable feature(s) might just be the next big thing available in a future firmware update.

Short answer: No, they haven't...

They have improved the PS3 a lot, but it could be better! It's lacking some important features!
