Well what do you know? After all the drama, which is still not showing any signs of a happy ending, it appears a new rumor is circling down the gamingsphere that Sony is prepping up a new PS3 firmware 3.60 in which its purpose is to do one thing and one thing only, and that is, banning all the players that utilizes the rootkey hack from Geohot.

Just a refresher, the coming of this year saw a real threat on the Playstation 3 security as Fail0verflow revealed on a hacker conference that Sony PS3 has a serious hardware-flaw which can be exploited in return, can give root-key access to any users who wish to pirate free games on the system.

While geohot claims he and his chums don’t condone piracy, it appears the nerds and geeks of the net think otherwise and in fact, just yesterday, some dude claims he managed to use Geohot’s PS3 Unlocker tool to perma-unlock all the trophies he wished, fooling the security of PS3 that it’s all legit.

Obviously, Sony is not pleased with this and as a result, he calls for a cease order about all the hacking paraphernalias of geohot and his gang upon doing this PS3 hack. And it appears today, the company has already found a way to mitigate the situation by releasing this PS3 Firmware 3.60.

Check out the video.

This is a phone-call conversation between Sony Australia and some undisclosed individual about the validity of this Firmware. If this 3.60 patch became true, it would falsify the give statement of our hackers that their ‘root-key’ exploit is unpatchable by any known software and only a hardware patch can fix it – which would be very expensive for Sony.

As of the moment, the lawsuit charge of Sony against these hackers continues and all the details will be revealed once the court resumes the case on California – the place where this lawsuit charge should belong!

Basically this Firmware Update is just going to ban Consoles that have used the root-key exploit? or consoles updating from 3.55 CFW? Reply with your opinions here.

Are you high?
This is bullshit. Sony already said in their first statement that they are gonna ban the people but who is banned yet? Only BlackOps and MW2 hackers.

Not exactly, This update could read the root-key your running, and if it happends to be GeoHots expoit, You could be screwed..

PS, This could be the mass-banning thing they've been talking about.

Why sony fails / why i refuse to belive this. If you are on geohot's firmware and get banned and sony bans you yeah your fuked, but say if geohot wins the legal battle then sony will be forced to unban them all, this could cause confusion and To be honest. Do you realy think they have time for that shit
