Sony's looking for a way to update like normal, but really **** all the hackers over. Sneaky bastards :p

Your a fugging idiot, he does it just because he likes to help others and let everyone have freedom of what they rightfully bought. Sure the fame is nice but hes making more than you and give him a couple years and he will be running Sony. IM sure he would hack it himself but he legally can't and jailbreaking a phone is legal in the US so he does it. Your definetly jealous.. Sad people these days
your an idiot. You actually believe what comes out of his mouth? He'll lie his ass off to make sure Sony doesn't bust him. Freedom of what they rightfully bought. Don't give me that crap. People and the media worship like he's god or something. He's not. He's a hacker who had time and money to "jailbreak" a console. Why would I want to hack a console? It's the biggest waste of time. Let me go to a top software firm like google and list on my application "hey, I hacked the PS3 and released all of its private serial keys to the public because I'm so cool and I want people to do what they want with their software. I'm sure it was morally and ethically incorrect but idc, I have no morals. If it comes down to it, I'll do the same thing to you too." Any of my professors(comp sci) could EASILY do what he did if they were given the time to because its not that hard. One of my professors even said he looked at the Iphone code and saw what kind of crap it was. If you buy into his story your an idiot. You think he's that smart? Go look at Sony's, Google's, Apple's and MS's top software developers who's smash his intelligence straight to the ground. Why don't you hear about their achievements? Because what they do is moral and they are the reason we are able to communicate online. Their hard work and dedication made this possible, not because they were "uber 1337 hackers who wanted to hack everything," but its because they wanted to do something good and beneficial. They are the reason we are in this technological society we live in today.
I am a supporter of "freedom of everything bought" because he is right, we should be able to use what we want how we want it but I don't like when people like him take that quote to the fullest extent and use it to hide behind their actions. I mean come on, he's soliciting money from people with this bs excuse about "whaa, Sony is so 1337 that they are going to pwn me, let me get some money that should have gone to bungie, EA, activison, Marvel, Capcom because they made the games you pirated and deserve the money your sending me."
People think what he did is good. NO ITS NOT. This isnt the Iphone where an app costs 99c and where most of the apps are free. His "freedom" is leading to a massive increase in PS3 pirating which is bad for ALL ps3 users because if its gets out of hand then developers are going to stop making games for the PS3 and its going to die. I know tt doesn't matter to idiots like you because you guys are so awesome that your gonna go to bed with your ps3 and have sex with it because you could do what you want with it. People glorify his actions when he probably did like 10-30% of the work while failoverflow did most of it.
Hacking is great but ignorant people need to realize that actions have consequences and that good things in life are NOT free. "Hacking" is what motivated people to make linux and all of its counterparts such as apple and all of its programs. Its great to have a community of people who want to find the minute errors in programs and fix them or take programs and implement them to a whole new level. People wanted to use the OtherOs and use the PS3's processing capabilities to do unimaginable things, look at the army, they even bought a few hundred ps3s for their own uses. Why did OtherOs get removed? Because of this numbnut Geohot who was so smart and cool that he wanted to make the "Geohot firmware." You are an idiot if you blame Sony for removing the OtherOs options. If Sony did not remove it then the pirating would have grown exponentially and who knows if the PS3 would even be here now. Look at the F***** dreamcast. One exploit was all that was needed to destroy it completely.
I know this is a hacking forum and I myself learn great things here and have great respect for everyone here regardless of their contribution, from the bottom feeder to the greatest hackers, but people need to start thinking about short term and think about the long term consequences of what some people do because as a hacker, you are an elite person whos logical capabilities are beyond those of the ordinary human. Do something good with it with intentions beyond fame (Even money is better)
