The patent dispute between Sony and LG has the Dutch police seizing all PlayStation Units in warehouses across the country, giving the agency the right to hijack units directly from consumers homes.
The drama started back in February, when LG filed a ten-day injunction to stop all PS3 sales in Europe. LG claims Sony’s Blu-ray technology violates three of its patents, which prompted a judge to halt all sales of the gaming console until the matter is settled. The ban on the PS3 is across the EU, with thousands of units already confiscated.
Sony is said to challenge the ruling in court tomorrow, in the meantime you can check out the copy of the court ordered documents from Florian Mueller, a god among the intellectual property crowd.
Update: One of our readers from Holland confirmed with us that customs agents are indeed seizing all PS3 units, but no reports of agents actually taking consoles from users homes.
