The ylod is a extreme major hard drive failure so you wont keep the hdd anyway. Sony is allways gay anyway and wont let you keep the hdd for any reason but they might back it up for you or if you want them to give you a new ps3 they sometimes let you keep the hdd if you take it out yourself. So just take it out and say oops i forgot to put it back in. Thats what my brother did and they didnt care.
