So Much Win.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); SOCOM 4 is the latest in a series of third-person shooters about US Navy Seals that Zipper Interactive has developed over the last decade. It follows a five person team as they go through Southeast Asia, fighting insurgent forces. The series is known for being a tactical shooter, and its multiplayer has garnered a large fan following.

Single Player

The single player campaign requires players to issue commands to their squad. Players can set waypoints, mark targets, and set the AI behavior. Much of the game is based around using the entire team to complete missions, which can range from firefights, to stealth mission, to rescue operations.

The story follows the five man squad through 14 missions over six days as they fight off insurgent forces known as the Naga. Players control Cullen Gray, an Ops Commander. His squad is comprised of two American soldiers and two South Korean soldiers.

Cullen Gray - Ops Commander
Eric Schweitzer - Heavy Weapons Operator
Dion Wells - Security Operations and Explosives
Park Yoon-Hee aka Forty-Five - Covert Operations
Chung Kwan - The other guy!

Multiplayer

There are Four Multiplayer Modes.
Suppression – Team based deathmatch.
Uplink – A capture the flag style match.
Last Defense – Defend your base by gaining control of three key locations.
??? – An unnamed multiplayer map, that we have reason to believe is something about bomb defusing.

Multiplayer mode supports up to 32 players per match. Players can level up, and their weapons can also be upgraded with attachments that make aiming more accurate, or add secondary fire.

There are 10 multiplayer maps. So far we've seen:
Abandonded – A jungle base map, considered the most classic SOCOM map seen so far.
Rush Hour – A half destroyed freeway section. Abandoned cars provide cover, and a parking garage makes it a very vertical level.
Collision – An urban Asian town, very dusty, with lots of alleys and cars.
Assault and Battery – A military base on a tropical island.

I Heard It's Not Like SOCOM

Zipper Interactive has changed much of how multiplayer plays. New additions include regenerative health, a new cover based system, closer in game camera, a different array of weapons, and respawn.

There is, however, a Classic mode that follows older SOCOM rules like no cover, no health regeneration, and no respawn.

As stated in another post, I have played every socom dating back to the PS2 days. They are a series for which I truly enjoy. I personally hope Socom 4 is no disappointment. :y:

i agree. Socom 4 is not a dissapointment. but they didnt have to add Capture the Flag and a domination type game mode. Cuz thats straight from COD. ughhhhh i loved the real Demolition and other game modes that make the game look more realistic. But i still love the game no matter what.
