If you mean not releasing his work so people can leech/abuse it to the point online games are no longer enjoyable to the general public which inevitably leads to any exploit that may have been found getting patched, then yes he reminds me a lot of TheUnknown.

You are probably talking about the CoD series.
Thats not the reason Sony releases firmwares, they release it so we cannot pirate games and install our own homebrew.
Because Data Transferring will always be there and you can switch your CoD patches or whatever from there.
So how is this going to the point that the CFW online cause us to not enjoy games?
Besides, backupped/pirated games doesnt work online so w/e
