For the diehards (understand: hacked PS3 users) refusing to update to 3.60, who want to game online and have since been denied PSN access, should take a look at these alternatives … if you haven’t already. Get your multiplayer kicks from XLink Kai and/or XBSlink … at least until the next 3.60 PSN hack/spoof is made public. XLink Kai and XBSlink are the two major players when it comes to playing LAN-enabled (or system link) games over the Internet.
XLink Kai has a larger [PS3] community base than XBSlink and better compatibility with system link/LAN-enabled PS3 titles. I for one have used XLink Kai in the past and can say it works well and is pretty awesome overall.
XBSlink, which we covered before, works too; however, compatibility with PS3 isn’t as great. It is mentioned the team is working on improving that and you should keep up by following the link to their site.
Both solutions require a PC, whereby the PS3 will tunnel all its LAN traffic through. Windows, Mac and Linux are supported for each. You will require some prior setup before hopping and playing online; so with that said, I suggest you visit their website (XLink Kai or XBSlink) to download the software and learn more.
