Ever. Awesome. Move over Move… Shantanu Goel has upped the ante in the motion controller game by taking Kinect, a collection of open source Kinect libraries and the DIY PS3 Controller, and mashed ‘em all together to create one righteous hack.
Keep in mind this is “pre-alpha” software … currently a super experimental hackjob. First you will require these Kinect libraries: OpenNI (git link), NITE, and PrimeSense (git link). Also DIYPS3Controller. And you can find Shantanu’s full Kinect-PS3 source right here. Visit the source link (below) to learn how to compile and use Kinect-PS3 … or wait until it’s matured and packaged into one easy-to-use dealio. You can also keep up with Shantanu (@shantanugoel) on Twitter.
My main man, Jared, has a real, simple guide for setting up your Kinect with the required libraries under Windows. Click here for that. And whether or not you know: DIYPS3Controller (v1) works with AT90USB development boards, meaning your Teensy++ 2.0, which you may’ve used to hack your 3.41 PS3, is compatible.
