Post: Help... Nat2, open dmz and still noone can connect to me!!

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have always had problems connecting with friends on mw2 and black ops but not untill I tried to get host via kid420's method did I realize there is a problem.

When I disconnect my router and go straight from modem to ps3 I can get people connceting to my lobby and all is good.

When I have my router installed between my modem and ps3 I can get into my own lobby but noone ever connects ever. I have sat there for 10 minutes waiting but no one shows up.

When the router is connected I always have nat2 and can play in other peoples lobby's just fine, people just cant connect to me.

I have tried dmz and port forwarding every port possibe, I have even completly disabled my routers firewall but still no one can connect to me through the router. And yes I gave the ps3 a static ip.

I have a brand new belkin wireless router that replaced an older one about a month ago and I had had these issues with both.

What else can I do to get people to connect to me through my router?

Thanks

Man is this ever giving me a headache....

I am currently trying to port forward my laptop and even put it on the dmz and disabled my firewall and no matter what I do online "port checking" web site tell me any port I try is closed.

I have searched the internet and found zero answers, if you have ANY suggestions please let me know thanks

Do a barrel roll!
It also depends if your router is getting its internet connection from another modem. This can cause to have type 2 NAT. My wireless I am connected to is like this because we have 2 wireless routers. Mine changes from type 1 to type 2 from time to time.
A couple things that could work:
• Disable media servers in network settings (Common fix)
• Disable uPnP unless you have a device which needs it
• Enable DMZ to your PS3 console (like you said you did)
• Maybe run through a proxy or use an alternate DNS from You must login or register to view this content.
if none of these work there might be another problem that I cannot tell you currently.

Thanks for the reply, I have disabled the media servers and upnp as well as enabling the dmz.

I was able to confirm open ports for my laptop but still not for the ps3.

So the ps3 is currently running a static ip that is configured in the router's dmz. I have gone on the ps3's internet to getyoursignal.com and checked multiple ports including ones required for me to sign into the psnetwork (which I am currently signed into) and all of them are closed.

so....

modem-------ps3, this is great and I can host no problem
modem-------laptop, works great and all ports I forward are open
modem-------router-----laptop, works great and all ports I forward are open
modem-------router-----ps3, I can connect and play games but I can not host, have problems connecting with friends and get booted from games all the time

So its gotta be something with the ps3 right?

I really appriciate any help any will rep to all usefull posts Smile

I had open before with noone connecting to me and now I have moderate and people connected to me?? How does this make any sence?

I am still nat 2 btw.

This could be do to your internet being slow, how fast is it?
If you upgrade your internet connection should help a lot specially if you have Nat2.

Holly shit........
I was Moderate because I did not have the dmz enabled at the time lol, I enabled it and I get people joining me even faster now.

So just to clairyfy to everyone, maybe people in the same boat I simply changed my dns setting on the ps3 from the router address(I beleave this is what "auto" uses too) to my service provider dns (found this info in my router) and thats it.

If only I could rep myself
