Post: RSOD after installing rebug

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hi all,

So I was able to install Rebug with no issues. Used it for a day no problems at all.

I then went into the Rebug Setting option to make the PS3 either Rebug or Normal, and set it to Normal.

Restarted and that was fine.

Tried to set rebug back on through the same menu, I think it was L1+O, and it would not give me the Debug Settings opton under the Settings Column on the XMB, so I went back to the Rebug CEX(?) option under GAME, and set it back to normal and restarted, came up fine.

Then tried again and set it to Rebug and Retail XMB (instead of Debug XMB) restarted and it came up to RSOD.

No YLOD, I have audio, and I see the Boot logo and XMB sounds are up, but after a few seconds it RSOD's.

I see tuts on getting out of RSOD by using Recovery but when I hold power down until after the beeps it comes back to RSOD. Also the tuts say they don't work on 3.55.

I do have PSFreedom for android with ServiceMod but I get a RSOD using that too.

For now I have pulled the cord to let it cool because some sites say it is because of overheating.

Is this a true brick, because I do get the XMB briefly and then RSOD? or do any of you Guru's out there have a pointer for me?

Model of PS3: CECHK01 US

Thanks for you attention.

***EDIT***
Found a tut for 3.55, trying it now... also found that RSOD does usually load up to XMB normal then go kaput... le sigh... I hope I don't lose BluRay playback....

Nobody is like me
Yea you can either:

A) Do the downgrade method

or

B) Put into recovery mode and reinstall 3.55.

Thanks br0!

Before you posted that I started on the downgrade, and while researching found that I am utter FAIL! and was NOT putting it into recovery, rather just a normal boot... I was not getting the double beep at the end.

Threw Rebug on my memory stick and installed via recovery and BAM! my wife is no longer pissed at me!

I tried no luck, even tried service mode with a 5g ipod, it went into service mode but still had the red screen while in service mode!
