IM BEING HONEST , I COPIED AND PASTED THIS <3
Although it is true that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 consoles are outselling PlayStation in the United States, new data from Strategy Analytics shows us that the number of PlayStation units shifted up until the end of 2010 was 43.4million, outselling Microsoft’s Xbox by 500,000.
With the release of the Xbox Kinect hardware, Microsoft was able to boost sales and challenge for the title more. Yet outside the U.S the console is still set to disappoint and many users are encountering problems with their systems. As a result of this the PlayStation has become the preferred console out of the two.
Since next generation consoles the Xbox has been able to make a much firmer stand then the original system did. However despite this the enhanced popularity of the PlayStation 3 in Europe and Asia over the Xbox has managed to send it to the top. Well I say top, but we all know the Nintendo Wii has had the most sales.
As far as overall figures are concerned the following information is how it currently stands:
Wii - 75.5 Million
PlayStation 3 – 43.4 Million
Xbox 360 – 42.9 Million.
Although the Wii is by far on top, the struggle for power between the PS3 and 360 continues. The margin of difference between sales is very fractional; this could easily change with a popular new game or hardware release.
