It appears Sony understands the recent issues it has encountered with its online services. Apparently it could be connected to threatening attacks made by a hacker group called ‘Anonymous’. When Sony spoke to IGN they said “We are currently investigating, including the possibility of targeted behaviour of an outside party. If this is indeed caused by such an act, we want to once again thank our customers who have borne the brunt of the attack through interrupted service”.
This was followed by “Our engineers are working to restore and maintain the services, and we appreciate our customers’ continued support”.
Since the problem started, this is the first time Sony has admitted that their security may have been breached and could be under attack. Previously nothing was said on the situation except “Sony is working to restore the service”.
Problems with PSN begun shortly after Sony started to take action against the infamous hacker ‘Geohot’. This act was deemed “wholly unforgivable”, shortly afterwards Sony started experiencing issues, sounds too much like a coincidence.
Worst effected areas include US PlayStation Blog, PlayStation.com and the PS Store on your browser (PC), as well as this PSN was said to be “Undergoing Sporadic Maintenance”.
Regardless I appreciate the work that Geohot is doing, but these hackers called ‘Anonymous’ are ruining it for the rest of us. Let it go guys
