So latest news released that Sony and George Hots (Geohot) have settled out of court, meaning the case didn't go in front of a Judge or a Jury and no decision was made. They only agreed on certain terms which were confidential and of which we will never know about.

This has annoyed me and I dare say has annoyed thousands of other Sony customers, and the reason this has annoyed me is because if it's not been taken to court, then no decision has been made on it, there is no statued law been made, therefore this case is in some what still open.




But my question is why did either of them do this. If George Hots was given the rights to jailbreak the console, then everyone would move on, there would be nothing they could do, too bad suck it up Sony. But vice versa if Sony won, we would just say ok no more hacking and if we do we would face the consequences. But instead Sony decided to settle the case with George Hots directly. Meaning no decision has been made. Nothing has been fixed. Ok so George Hots has agreed not to hack the console anymore, but so what, the fact is he is not the smartest hacker in the world. If he didn't hack the console in the first place, someone else would have done it.

But my question is this, Why doesn't Sony work WITH their customers so to speak, for example why don't they allow these modified lobbies on COD4, MW2 etc like they do on PC games. That way it will give us gamers a choice rather than starting up a game to find out that it's been hacked to shit by little kids, and that just ruins the whole gaming experience for everyone.
But in reality this is how it's going to continue because no law has been placed, Sony will have to continue fighting off these hackers because quite frankly theres nothing you can do about it. And if I find any more games that have been hacked the crap out of by these kids then so be it I might even Boycot Sony with GeoHot, I will just play on Xbox and PC, I mean why not? They seem to be able to cope with all of this crap.

For every 1 developer lost to Sony thinking they're law, 5 more people interested in the PS3 stop playing with themselves in their moms basement and become basement hackers.

Just because it was settled outside of the court room doesn't mean nothing was accomplished. It just means they didn't need the law to assist, and on top of that Sony could dealing with the courts in a different manner to make it illegal.

Personally what I think happened is Sony got something useful on Hotz, and either Hotz or his lawyer decided to take the deal. So I think he's probably helping Sony fix the issues.
