i back up my data. when i put in the new hard drive the ps3 want recognize it . it want even ask me to format it , should i clone the 40g on my pc and put it on the 500gb, ? I hope i don't have to do a system update . i know that there's fw i can download but will it work ?

Back up the files on 40GB to Hard disk drive then replace the HDD ps3 40gb to 500GB
