Post: Could the integration of Steam be the culprit for PSN outage?

Portal 2 released on Tuesday right? Sony's newest update on the outage claims that the servers were shut down on 4/20 (1 day later) due to "external intruders." Perhaps Steam opened up some kind of gateway into the servers which allowed for UNFORSEEN CONSEQUENCES  to take place. Discuss.

Simple answer: no... Cross-platform has nothing to do with the login servers in the first place... second... please read sony's blog before posting... it's already confirmed it was an outside attack.

My theory: A ninja named Joez was a total ninja and broke into Sony at night and he hid on the ceiling when a guard walked by and then he kept attacking the servers at Sony with his sword and they died!

Get my point?

1) Sony's servers are most likely guarded by Cthulhu so Joez couldn't have broken in.

&

2) My post actually has a valid point. Steam is very new to PSN & therefore it was never tested on a massive scale before the release of Portal 2. So, from a technical standpoint, something could have happened that allowed for "external intruders" to gain access.

My thread was made with the intention of starting a discussion over the possibility, P-O-S-S-I-B-I-L-I-T-Y, that this could have happened...with a little humor thrown in for the lulz, but instead of a valid discussion on the topic, I got you in the thread. In all honesty, I probably could have gotten better replies by posting this topic on /b/. Oh & by the way I'm done replying to you now, go get your neck-beard on elsewhere [/rant]:fyea:

*O* EXTREMELY possible, already ppl have hacked steam for games n shizz so wat would stop them on this, i mean dang the maps on portal 2 map.bsp file is based on maps from half life n garrys mod on pc, if the server is steam to psn then definatly in view this is extremely possible! either hackers threw steam mess up ur the messed up connection with steam. steam even said they didnt know to much of buildin games for ps3

Thank you for providing your reasonably worded input. I thanked your post.

There's always a possibility. I mean, if given access to a small connection to the Playstation servers, PC hackers can possibly find a backdoor.
