Following the theft of personal details off of the Playstation Network, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is reportedly assisting in an investigation to find those responsible.

DHS spokesman Chris Ortman offered an official statement on the situation saying:

“The Department of Homeland Security is aware of the recent cyber intrusion to Sony‘s PlayStation Network and Qriocity music service, DHS U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team [CERT] is working with law enforcement, international partners and Sony to assess the situation.”

This is following the announcement that millions of users’ personal details had been leaked during the network security breach that occured on Sony’s online gaming service.

The CERT is able to assist in helping companies restore control and security to their services, as well as sharing prior information about hacked systems with other companies to keep them safe, too.
