If a picture is worth a thousand words, then this one is probably worth about 10 million or so. After Sony‘s press conference last night, this is one of the illustrations that was given to the press:

If anyone would kindly explain to me just what the **** happened there, I’d be very grateful.
It looks like there was a vulnerability in the application server and that was exploited to pass a multitude of firewalls and access our PSN account information on the database server. Either way, it’s a lovely and colorful diagram and thanks to Sony for putting it on page 10 of the press booklet.
Our webmaster should be able to make sense of that diagram, unfortunately it’s Sunday and he’s not easy to get a hold of. I think he’s playing golf…

if they spent more time fixing PSN instead of drawing diagrams then PSN would be up by now
