Im pretty sure its in fat32

my external hard drive is formatted to fat32 and that wont accept files bigger than 4gbs where as the internal will. I've heard that the internal hard drive is formatted to linux and im now wondering if i formatted my external to linux if it will accept files bigger than 4gbs.

its fat32 but you have to use a program for big files

It is correct that FAT32 has limits set at 4GB. I remember reading that there was (or is) a way to convert the files to mkv format which allows larger sizes. Sadly, that thread is burried somewhere in the disaster known as the "PS3 Hacks and Exploits" section with the other countless number of threads. Sorry I am not much more of help to you.
