my PS3 gets really hot like after being on for 5 minutes and im scared its gonna break and im really thinking of trading it in cos i got 320GB HDD so i could a fair bit for it and either get another PS3 or get the xbox.. please someone help me with this, thanks

Have you tried cleaning it? Read the taking care of your PS3 thread. A system is only as good as the cleaning done on it, but yeah check it out inside and out and if you don't know how to get it professionally cleaned.

Also, I fixed my YLOD ps3, and forgot to hook up my fan.. All it did was after a few mins of being on, says some error like the ps3 is getting to hot, shutting down.

i got the fat ps3 i bought it off a friend but i believe he put the 320GB HDD cos the fat ones dont come with 320 GB hard drive, is the ps3 getting hot a sympton to the YLOD?
and someone said something about USB Ports? i got 2 on the front idk if it plays ps1,2,3 games .. havent get any of them games

They tend to get hot but theres no way to date it. Mine started going on full fan ect. and it lasted about 1 year after that, then I just fixed it.

how did you fix the full fan coming on? cos thats why mine does and its seriously annoying

this is what i was planning on doing but i got no idea how to back it up from my ps3 :/
