Since we are getting closer to a full reveal about the next call of duty installment, more information is being released.

Kotaku (Whoever that is) has recieved some Modern Warfare 3 information from an inside source:

  • The game is infact a sequel and not the rumoured prequel that people were expecting

The story of the game is said to be:

delivering a "world in crisis" feel to the aftermath of the U.S. invasion. However, it looks like it won't be another take on Red Dawn, a post-U.S. invasion storyline already explored by Homefront. While it's unclear where specifically the game will be set, Modern Warfare 3 will have a urban setting, much like the U.S. missions in Modern Warfare 2, with military vehicles, including tanks, rolling through suburban streets."

Since it is a sequel to Modern Warfare 2 this means that the end of Mw2 where Soap and Price get on board a helicopter with Nikoli, after killing General Shepard and becoming international criminals. This also links to the information that reportedly the main characters will include Captain John "Soap" MacTavish and Captain John Price.

Since Mw3 is going to be in direct competition with the upcoming Battlefield 3 Kotaku was also told that Modern Warfare 3 take on some of the attributes of their competitor, taking the Call of Duty series into a much larger, epic scale. The game will feature more and more countries entering the fray, "creating a potential World War III scenario." Like Battlefield 3, the game will also feature large, urban destructible environments.

Since the Activision and infinity ward law suit Mw3 will be the 1st in the series that wont be directed by Jason West and Vince Zampella.
Will it be the same without them?
Do you think Mw3 will compete with Battlefield? I do :y:
