Go to the cabin with the dock at the north tip of the lake. Turn your back to the cabin so you are facing north. And run northwest about a hundred feet. You should see a beaver on a small hill (up against the small cliffside), and you can kill it and skin it.

Now after you kill it, run back to the cabin area where you would hitch your horse. You can now turn around and go back to the hill and find another beaver in same general area as before. I'd say this only works about 95% of the time. If you don't see a beaver when you go back to the hill, just go back to the cabin and try again.
