Reports are merging that the developer's version of PSN has this morning come back online.

Eurogamer reports that the move could point to an imminent return for the main network.

"The internal PSN developer network is online again, at least it seems for some, although things are still a bit shaky at the moment such as lack of new account sign up," a forum user stated.

"Looks like the full network, at least the online play/account part of it, will be back soon."

After missing previous deadlines Sony is now refusing to date a return for the network. PSN was downed on April 20th.

[Update]

Giant Bomb has confirmed the rumors that surfaced on NeoGAF today, after speaking with "developer sources." Writer Patrick Klepek also provides a little more information on how PSN is functioning currently.

As previously rumored, new account registration is not functional, which is a problem for many developers who generally create multiple "dummy" accounts for development purposes. Obviously, these are created with fake information that was not written down, making it difficult for the developers to access PSN.

[Original Story]

Could this be the first sign that Sony's PlayStation Network is getting close to being restored? A poster on the NeoGAF forums, Kagari, says that he has confirmed with sources in the development community that PSN is up and running, although she says "things are still a bit shaky at the moment."

Kagari claims that some features, like new account sign up, are still disabled. However, if true, this looks to an encouraging sign that some of PSN's basic functions like online play will be up and running soon.
