because only 80gb 1s can... its really annoying cos ive got like 50 ps2 games and i my ps2 broke and i cant use them on my ps3...sorry m8

But you have to make sure you but the ps3 that was made BEFORE September 2007 because after that they took the playback of PS2 games out so only the PS3s made before September 2007 can play them, it was so they could lower the price on it.

Seriously this is the dumbest question ever. You need to do some research on what you invest in next time you decide to spend $300+ dollars on something.

yh, it is pretty annoying that ps3s can play ps2 games, some of the best games were on ps2

There should be something in the PS Store that will allow you to play PS2 games.
It's free so check it out.

The 40 and 80Gb machines dont have the emotion chip. It allows ps3 to be cheaper but thats the disadvantage. Sony were going to release an emulator in a firmware but have done so yet.

There's a download in the PS Store called PS2 System Data. It worked for me.

Then how come I can play PS2 games on my 80gb PS3? I thought that all PS3's except for the 40gb could play them. The 80, 60, and 20 could, I thought
