PS3 developer and hacker RMS has decided to shed some light on the whole QA flagging situation. According to RMS, to utilize the QA flag, a valid QA token needs to be generated in a unique way. Furthermore, in order for the QA flag to do its magic, your PS3 needs to have the right firmware and you need to know the secret key combo–which he refuses to disclose, due to piracy and warez concerns. RMS did add that the hypervisor on the PS3 can generate valid QA tokens but those tokens will only unlock the QA repository node.

Ever since Mathieulh released his video, some people just want to QA flag their consoles. Now, let me tell you one thing, it’s so not easy.
Besides, if you want to use the QA flag, you have to have a valid QA token, and you have to be on a specific firmware range. Now, what’s so special about the token is that it’s generated in a funny way, I am not going to disclose that here. But, remember, PS3 hypervisor can also make tokens. But these tokens.. don’t do anything except just unlock the QA repository node.

Besides, the fancy menu requires a very weird key combo on the Sixaxis, and it only works on retails. On debugs, it just removes all restrictions.

Remember, the QA flag in Syscon also requires a valid token. (reiterated again.)

So, in the end QA flagging = (Piracy*Warez)++;. Don’t do it. Awesome face

Oh man... I do hope rms or even Mathieulh releases this method. I know I may pirate somegames but all I want really is to downgrade my Ps3 to 3.55 to play the backups since CFW 3.6 isn't around. But being able to downgrade from any firmware you have upgraded looks awesome.

great, another anti-warez f*g. If you are so anti-warez, why bother crack the security, WHAT ELSE is it gonna get used for? Personally I want PSN so I can use Netflix, but since these devs keep the PSN capable cfw's to themselves while we are ALL offline. WOW, how awesome is that?

I postulate that 3.60 was cracked ages ago, but all the anti-warez f*g/devs have been hoarding it all along.

sorry if I insulted your dev/god, but someone had to say it, I'll take my neg rep now, thank you.
