(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); This was my 3rd time fixing my broken ps3 and apparently I was not paying attention and set my heat gun too high. I then saw my two processors (I believe) bubble up like crazy. I immediately stopped it. They are the two below the sony cell processor (big grey one, not the graphics one.), I turned it on and it works perfectly fine. I was wondering if anyone at all know what these do since Ive looked and nothing seems to be wrong. I doubt anyone would know but if you know could you please tell me? Thanks.

Just be careful, but dont worry too much about it. Electronics can take quite a bit of heat. The outside covering can melt, but the chip inside itself have a good chance of still working. I had fire damaged computer boards still working.

On the processors, what PS3 are yours, the slim or the Fat?

Fat 60GB, the one most prone to YLOD

Ok, have two of them. YLOD several times now as well. On one the ribbon cables peeled, and i used sandpaper to expose the copper again to make it work again. Some chips had some bubbling after the first YLOD on the older 60GB, after I used the oven to fix it, and forgot to switch the oven off in time. The capacitors was in putty, so didnt get scorched too much. That one is workin 100% for almost 9 months now!
