I had a problem with my PS3 some months ago and it is not yet repaired.
It was running with firmware 3.55 but with occasional blank screens and I tried to upgrade to version 3.60. But I could no longer get any HD output, so I tried to downgrade it. It went to Factory/Service mode and a guy told me that I had to upgrade it...It went smooth till about 45 % but then it went suddenly to 100% and I got Red Screen of Death.

Any advice will be highly appreciable.

hmm thats weird have you try contacting SONY ?
