I have taken apart a dualshock 3 controller once myself but unfortunately it didn't end well and I had to just cut my losses and buy a new one.

---------- Post added at 02:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:29 AM ----------

This is all that I have found so far.....maybe it will help some.

Hey Thanks for trying to help. I got 3 controllers. I have 2 dualshock controllers and 1 sixaxis. The piece i have no idea where it goes never shoes up on the video you linked me to and its not in the sixaxis. So i cant use that to see where it could go. i don't wanna use my UN-opened 3rd controller to give me an idea where it goes because then, like what happened to you, i would have to buy another one if i can't put it any back together.

I found these two videos as well: The first one is called the "official Sony way". Hopefully these help more. Winky Winky

i took mine apart to install a LED under the PS button, but i recorded what i did so i knew what to do Smile
I'd say just trial and error with youtube videos, that's what i done when i was putting my Blu ray drive back together Smile

did i rage? hahaha hell yea i did! i really dont wanna have to buy another controller. I also start raging on the videos people put up on dissembleing bcuz i just dont see the piece in there. i think i might just post craigslist or something to pay someone to do it live for a small fee. thats bettr then buying a new one.

lol, hard luck man Awesome face i wouldn't buy one, i just found a tut on youtube and i worked on it from there, it's really simple, but i had to cut the bottom off the PS button, i was terrified that i'd ruin my only controller :( but now i have 4, and one has a colour-changing LED Awesome face
