i will be building a comp soon, but the monitor has an hdmi port, and i am strongly considering moving my jailbroken ps3 into my room, so i can play. I have a 500 GB external HDD in my room that currently has my files from my laptop and a few ps3 games on it, that i play in multiman. I am wondering if i can back up my 3.55 onto my external HDD, and have that back up forever, so when i get my comp and monitor, i can play my ps3 online with my lil bro, instead of playing la noire and mass effect 2 all the time? and whenever i want to change out a patch or whatever, i just plug in my external HDD, go to system settings, and restore using the back up. Will my fw change? The reason im asking is because earlier i backed up my console, data transferred to test out some new patches online, then restored perfectly, and i had all my accounts back, but im not sure if you can do this with different firmwares. If someone has done this, or has a link saying it can be done, please post it and i will +rep.
remember, this is what im asking...
3.55 jb ps3 ----> backed to external hdd
3.55 jb ps3 is then updated to play online
3.61 ps3 is then restored using backup on the hdd
3.61 ps3 becomes 3.55 with all my stuff
please post and help me out
