In response of my last thread You must login or register to view this content. I went through how the site reddit have organized a boycott at Electronic arts upcoming Battlefield 3, about the pre-order DLC pack being available to day day of release. Some companies withholding some content such as DLC to use as pre-order bonuses which prevent the people who dont want to pre-order from accessing them. No

Arguments started as the view of the public is having exclusive weapons and vehicles can make the game unbalanced and recieving a map pack that is only available by pre-order is also seen as really unfair.
Also having to pay for the pack as well, from day one was people immediate view, but however EA has released more info on the subject.

A look at the Battlefield 3 site's blog (You must login or register to view this content.) shows that the pack, that was first thought to charge users who didnt pre-order, would be a free add-on later after release of the game.

I would like to start by clarifying that the Physical Warfare Pack is a time-based exclusive. If you do not pre-order Battlefield 3 at a retailer carrying the Physical Warfare Pack, don’t worry. We will unlock the contents of the Physical Warfare Pack for free to all Battlefield 3 players later this year.

This confirms that EA have seen the outrage the community had given after hearing the original news that the DLC would cost, but EA have now spoken back and the DLC is in fact going to be free, some time after release. However there is no confirmed date as out yet. Claps

This just goes to show how a misunderstanding around a game can lead to such an outrage that a boycott is proposed, to then find out that they had gotten there facts wrong. Although this is mainly about the UK bonus pack, Im sure it will apply to other regions as well.

Are you happy that its been confirmed that any pre-order DLC will be available free after release??
Do you think they decided to change their plans down to the boycott and had originally set to charge us??

Thanks for reading :y:

I don't see any problem with this.
If you want the game pre-order it, if you are not interested in the game you won't be interested in getting the DLC either so you won't pre-order it.

You don't have to pre-order the game to show your interest in it, what if you want to get it at midnight launch?? :p

It's not like pre-ordering the game costs extra money...if you're going to get the game you might as well pre-order it.

DLC looks cool, I love the TYPE 88 LMG from BF BC 2, can't wait for this game. I don't know why, but I'm more psyched about this game than MW3. Looks like the CoD fan in me is dying:'Winky Winky Tears of Happiness

Same kind of, the fact that there has been nothing released on modern warfare 3's online play is leaving us COD fans with nothing to look forward to at the moment, where as we can see what we are waiting for with BF3
