So last month when psn was coming up and i finally got online 5 mins later i got YLOD means Faccccck!!!! a lot of fury and stuff happened then i found the HairDryer Method it worked for 2 weeks then it died once again i tried the same method 8 times already everytime u do this method it works less.

Then finally yesterday i watched a youtube vid to dissasemble my ps3 and i did but my ps3 is a bit diff than other is first gen white ps 40 gb and some stuff werent on their usual place but finally i got it open to the mother board and looks like i separated the thermal compound from the fan with thermal compound parts....

Now comes the tricky part now my ps3 never stays ylod and does not turn on it always shut off by itself saying ps3 overheated plz shut it off so when 10 mins pass i can turn it on once again but it stays on only for 5 mins and turns off again...

Now im thinking looks like if i put a new thermal flux on the motherboard it will fix it and i will be happy once again? or i have to buy a heat gun to heat the motherboard but my motherboard doesnt look like it has cracked or stuff just the thermal compound being used up to not being useful anymore

Plz tell me ur ideas ppl who repaired their ps3!

Did you heat it first? /facepalm

Yeah I fixed mine for 3 months by refluxing the motherboard, but it's only temporary. Eventually you will need to buy a new one.
