Agreed. Update it to OFW 3.55 and then use a 3.55 CFW. The biggest mistake i made was updating my ps3 to 3.56 when it came out and i had the CFW. i will always regret it.

which cfw? kmeaw's or geohots? im a nub at this i nvr jailbroke any ps3 and if i do jailbreak would i still be able to go on psn and used my main account ect?

Buy a new PS3 with lower firmware

In my opinion i wouldn't use geohot's. Sony has his CFW considering they had a lawsuit with him. Also, i don't think you can go online if you're on 3.55CFW. i don't know for sure though. You'll have to check with someone else, but as far as i know there isn't a way as of now to access the PSN while on 3.55CFW.

click on offical firmware click and download 3.55 update your ps3 to 3.55 by a usb drive the file needs to be in a folder named PS3 with a folder inside that says UPDATE put the ps3updat.pup inside the update folder

now that your on 3.55
download either kmeaw from the same site
or rebug from You must login or register to view this content. if you use rebug you will have to rename it to PS3UPDAT.PUP put this is the same folder setup as above

if it tells you already have the same version ou will need to update from recovery mode then just explore that site ps3-hacks.com for the homebrew and other stuff you want
