The "leaked" PlayStation Cloud details and images spotted circulating the Web have been found to be unfortunately fake. Jeff Rubenstein of Sony himself called it.

The post looked convincing enough, particularly because the screenshot looked authentic, plus the source allegedly came from Sony. The information even included details on how the PlayStation Network is being geared to becoming more social, wherein the team is supposedly creating a group system through the PS Cloud "just like Facebook and Steams, however this one will allow you to create clan groups too and let you connect it with your PS Home Club House."

This reached Rubenstein, and with quick and simple flick of his wrist shrugged off the rumors.

This 'mockup' is pure conjecture. This is 100 percent fake."

And there you have it. Fake.

the website playstationcloud.com was patented by sony tho so they must have something planned, even if it isnt this. my guess its sonys version of OnLive for playstation.

Right now I think the idea of cloud is just somewhat of a threat to onlive I think they want to push something to compete with onlive and maybe more but whoever comes out first is going to lay the spikes in the road for the follower just like how microsoft pushed the 360 to release before the ps3 gamers ultimately had no choice and if they wanted the newest gaming system at the time it was a 360 which is why they built the fan/user base they have so quickly and even though I love my ps3 equally the when the 360 came out very few switched and I think that would happen with onlive and cloud.

If sony doesn't push anything like this to try and release before onlive they'll have a more difficult time trying to sway users from the other service to theirs that's how it always is the guy that comes with something essentially the same anytime after the originator is the imitator even with sony's big name backing it up obviously most ps3 owners now will go for it but attracting new people will be the problem.

I'm just assuming allot because if all the details we've heard thus far are fake then we know nothing about cloud and whether or not it's going to combat onlive, be more than onlive or less than onlive. I don't see sony creating a streaming service allowing you to play PC games (not that they couldn't) I just don't see it. PS3 on the other hand everything sony does revolves around their systems only so I could see streaming ps3 games and psp games with cloud and for xbox apparently it's too early to know is microsoft is going to jump onboard onlive and whether or not 360 will do onlive if they did it would free the need of the console, discs and downloads which would be nice imo, let them take care of rrod even though it will probably be at the users expense.

Onlive is tempting to steal fans and users from all the top entertainment platforms the PC the 360 and PS3 I just wonder how sony will combat that? or even Microsoft if they don't go into onlive.

I hope I get into the onlive beta though signed up awhile ago a couple times too so would be cool if I got a couple beta invites to add to my beta thread.
