(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); i got a ps3 slim from somebody at work today and they told me it was stuck in a update loop so when i got it home i hook it up and it was stuck in the update loop so i tried to get to the recovery menu with no luck so i put in a old 40gig harddrive i had laying around and put the latest update on my usb flash drive turned the system on and it tells me that i need to reformat the drive and all that so i pressed the select and start button like it says and it checks for the update and starts to prepare but at about 57% it will stop and say that there is no applicable update data connect a storage device that contains 3.01 or later and press start and select so i did it again and again for about ten times with no luck so does anybody have any idea how to get past this thanks for any replys

i know most know this but we never know
make sure you have the right folder set up

make sure you have a folder called PS3 on the root of your usb
inside the PS3 folder make a folder called UPDATE
put the PS3UPDAT.PUP in the UPDATE folder

also sometimes the pup isnt named properly
e make sure its in the right folders and its names PS3UPDATE.PUP if its named wrong just rename it
